Design and Use of Pressure Sewer Systems ReviewThe writer has been engaged in the supply of pressure sewer systems for more than 10 years and in certifying designs for more than 5 years. These designs include both centrifugal and semi-positive displacement pumps.POSITIVES
1] This book is short and can be read in a couple of evenings without difficulty.
NEGATIVES
1] Out of date. Publication date is 1985. Design theory has advanced considerably in 22 years, with Europe leading the way. New developments such as EC Standard EN 1671 [1997] are not mentioned.
2] This book is overpriced, considering the amount of content. If you are a design engineer, Haestad Methods "Wastewater Collection Systems Modelling and Design" is much better value. For about $25 more, Haestad includes DESIGN SOFTWARE and way more text, by multiple authorities in the field If you are in the trades, I prefer the "SWPA Handbook", which has a good introductory chapter on grinder pumps.
3] Biased towards centrifugal grinder pumps. The centrifugal and semi-positive pumps are both viable designs. As designers we must be able to use both and when required, use them together.
Design and Use of Pressure Sewer Systems OverviewThis valuable text gives previously unreported experience in the design, operation and maintenance of pressure sewers. Economic advantages of the pressure sewer system allow development of previously undeveloped areas-making central sewer extension more affordable for both municipalities and developers. Pressure systems make central sewers available where on-site disposal may prove undesirable. Of interest to a broad spectrum of professionals, this new book will prove valuable to consulting engineers, municipalities, sewer districts, sanitary engineers, pump and equipment manufacturers, and developers.
