Homebuilt Firearms ReviewI originally had an idea for building this firearm model in 2009 based on a ball detent chamber lock and a bar type magazine, with the idea it could be built in an average home garage using common tools: a Drill Press, Angle and Bench Grinders, and a Wire Welder, along with a hacksaw, files, common tools, etc. This book describes the project; beginning with a used .22 barrel purchased at a local gunshow, and then using the tools and $5 worth of scrap steel from a local fabricator, the remainder of the mechanism was built, first as a Single Action assembly, ( Cocked prior to each shot..) then modified into a Double Action, where the trigger pull initates chambering of each round then releases the hammer for firing.
The book has about 120 pages, is a large 6.69" x 9.61" format, glossy covered softback with fifty drawings and photos.
It should be ideal as a guide for gun enthusiasts, Hobbyists, Builders and Sportsmen to fabricate a homebuilt firearm with their own ingenuity and skill, ending with a real, working firearm.
There is a responsibility required as to safety in the entire workplan, wearing of safety protection, avoiding all manner of hazards-- that is a part of any endeavor by a responsible person.
I hope the instructions and pictures provide an educational and interesting guide to those interested in firearms, hobby construction, and using shop tools.Homebuilt Firearms Overview"Homebuilt Firearms"is a great initiation for hobbyists who wish to try building a real gun from scratch, using only standard garage tools, NOT milling machines or lathes.Such a project is definitely a great learning and skill building experience for a person who enjoys gun sports and shooting-- and unusual, challenging projects.Starting with a used .22 barrel from a gun show, andadding some scrap Steel, a hobby builder can utilize his ingenuity and skills... using a drill press, grinders, wire welder, a hacksaw, files, etc.and can indeed build a firearm, first a repeater Single Action model, then a Double Action weapon. The rifle project described here is a functional ten shot .22 rifle. It offers a fun and rewarding building experience for any mechanically minded individual, an achievement to be enjoyed and used.
