Bridge to the Past: A Personal History of North Kansas City, Missouri ReviewThe city of North Kansas City is in the southwest corner of the county of Clay, on the western border of the state of Missouri, and located geographically in the heard of America. I is a city rich with industry; but to most of its residents, it is a small town still - filled with friendly, caring people concerned about their homes, their schools, their churches, and their government.
This book places special emphasis on the city's beginning, describing it through the eyes and words of those who saw it emerge from fields of wheat, corn, and alfalfa. This book is also an attempt to recognize those who were instrumental in bringing about the city's growth and progress.
Always there has existed a fierce pride in the people of this town. It is evident in their support of its schools and other community causes - its library, its swimming pool, its hospital.
There was devotion, too. Many of those who contributed to this book have made that plain but none more succinctly than Roger Morris, noted author, those parents still live in North Kansas City: "I cherished it all ... safe in the womb of the community, yet ... lured away to that other, starker reality beyond the levees. The strength of the town was that it kept us as it let us go. And for those of us who now live elsewhere, coming home in the soft twilight of memory, it holds us still."
