Aerosmith: The Ultimate Illustrated History of the Boston Bad Boys ReviewDon't let the somewhat generic looking cover fool you, this book is a visual
treat for hardcore Aerosmith fans.
The first half is loaded with some incredible photographs, from my favorite era,
the 70's.
You also get some really interesting text from each year, documenting
the albums & history of that time.
It is all laid out in a nice hardcover shell, with a clear slipcase.
The spine has a sort of "Get your wings" font, which looks really vintage & cool.
I had heard about this particular book coming out, but never expected it to be
so thorough & classy.
As a longtime fan of Aerosmith (a somewhat jaded one, at that), this book comes
highly recomended!
Check it out.Aerosmith: The Ultimate Illustrated History of the Boston Bad Boys Overview
Aerosmith is one of the greatest rock 'n' roll bands of all-time. After their 1970s success was derailed by band strife and Dionysian excess, Boston's Bad Boys received a career jump-start in 1986 via their collaboration with hip-hop legends Run-DMC and producer Rick Rubin. This first complete illustrated history of one of the world's most successful and popular bands features a band history by music journalist Richard Bienstock and sidebar album reviews from a host of well-known music journalists, including Greg Kot, Jaan Uhelszki, Chuck Eddy, Bill Holdship, Martin Popoff, Daniel Bukszpan, and more. Illustrated throughout with hundreds of stunning performance and backstage photographs, as well as rare memorabilia, including gig posters, backstage passes, 7-inch picture sleeves, ticket stubs, and more.

Bruce Springsteen on Tour: 1968-2005 ReviewDave Marsh is not what you'd call an unbiased journalist. Nor should he be. He is basically the official Springsteen biographer, and his previous books have documented his rise (the first book), then his popular explosion (his second book), which have been collated in the terrific "Two Hearts".
Here, he provides a tour-by-tour analysis/memoir/scrapbook of the career of Bruce Springsteen.
I am a huge Springsteen fan. Just huge. I devoured this book and begged for more.
There are literally hundreds of killer little details that will delight anyone who has seen a Springsteen show. If this book is given to a Springsteen fan who by chance has not yet seen him live, it will make them want to donate a kidney to do so.
The most frequent comments I internally made while reading this tome were "I wish I was there", or " I wish that would come out on CD or DVD", or "That must have been amazing" and usually ending with " I must find a way to get tickets to his next concert!"
No other musician could have a book like this. Many of his beloved onstage stories are reproduced here. Accounts of particularly historic shows (The Bottom Line, The Roxy, Nassau, the Coliseum), guest performers (Ronnie Spector, his mom requesting an encore)...the way he went from band tours to solo shows...
Bottom line (no pun intended) is that this is a mandatory purchase for any Bruce fan!Bruce Springsteen on Tour: 1968-2005 OverviewAuthorized by Bruce Springsteen, written by his longtime biographer Dave Marsh, and packed with photos from Bruce's personal collection, Bruce Springsteen on Tour is a glorious full-color tribute to one of America's best-loved musicians. This gorgeously designed retrospective incorporates 350 color and black-and-white photos--many never before published--plus tour artifacts and memorabilia, and features an intimate portrait by bestselling rock writer Marsh following Bruce's career from his first days on stage right through his 2005 Devils and Dust tour. Bruce Springsteen on Tour chronicles a great American musician thrilling audiences for more than thirty years, and is a must-have volume for all his fans.

Outdoor Stonework: 16 Easy-to-Build Projects For Your Yard and Garden ReviewIf beautifying your world with stone and concrete is your goal, this book is a must.
The author did a fine job of eliciting interest in a project by showing wonderful color photos of the finished product first. Then he supplies photos and diagrams of each step while describing it in down-to-earth fashion. He adds some photos of historical works to show what can be done and how long a quality job can last.
I particularly enjoyed the descriptions of building a winding path. Mr. Bridgewater showed each layer of the walk, how to install that layer (tamper, rake, shovel, hose...) and feel that I really could create a viable path for my own home.
The only nit I have to pick was his measurements for the Japanese lantern's components. Although I could figure it out, he was inconsistent in indicating whether a dimension was length, width, or height.
Overall, I would purchase this book again.Outdoor Stonework: 16 Easy-to-Build Projects For Your Yard and Garden OverviewStonework gives a yard a sense of permanence and distinction. Authors Alan and Gill Bridgewater show readers how to bring the beauty of stone into their gardens with simple but elegant natural features, unique walls, attractive paving, and much more.
Outdoor Stonework is a complete primer on working with stone, including choosing materials, safety considerations, and cutting and fitting techniques. The 16 original stone projects include flagstone steps, retaining walls, a cantilevered seat-shelf, a garden table, a Zen-type stone garden, and more.

Photographed in its garden setting, each project features step-by-step construction methods. Instructions include supply lists, estimates of time for completion, safety tips, and helpful hints from the experts. The clear construction diagrams, cross-section drawings, and concise text make stonework fun and satisfying for do-it-yourselfers of all levels.
